Discover fresh, flavoursome and feel good food straight from West Nigeria.
Afrizi, the first African restaurant in Basingstoke, where you will be transported by our rustic, colourful atmosphere; greeted by friendly faces and enjoy rhythmic, melodious African music. A true must-go spot in the heart of Hampshire.
Here at Afrizi, we like to look after everyone and our menu was designed to do just that! The majority of our menu is either gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian, further we boast that all of our menu is halal, catering to all whether you like spicy or just plain delicious!
But we didn’t just stop there, with our passion to look after our planet and home, this is our first thought through everything from up-cycling for our furniture and all packaging either being fully recyclable or compostable.
We look forward to inviting all of you, for grab-and-go lunches, mid afternoon catch-ups or sit-down dinners, and don’t forget to bring along your paw-tiful pets, we have a water bowl ready to go whenever!
A casual restaurant for friends and family.
We ordered: gizzado, mix grill suya, garlic bread, beans and plantain. All dishes were delicious, the gizzard was a bit sweeter than I thought but not in a bad way. The chicken suya tasted nicer than the beef - for the salad I think it would be nicer if the lettuce wasn’t chopped so the meat could be wrapped with the lettuce. Garlic bread was slightly disgusting as it didn’t have a strong garlic profile, it felt more like toast with butter only.
Drinks- guava, strawberry and mango smoothie was fresh. The milo smoothies was a bit too sweet and heavy for my taste.
The restaurants decor is very nice and feels lively.
Ama, Kiara and Zara were the staff we interacted with and everyone was friendly. Kiara was our server and the one we interacted with the most, she was very friendly and made the dining experience more pleasant. The menu on the website and in the one in the restaurant is a bit different, I think both menus need to be updated to the most recent one. Would come back again and try other dishes.
I couldn’t have been more pleased to have revisited Afrizi again after moving out of the area all those years ago.
Having been a relatively regular diner back when they first opened in 2022. The quality and flavour of their food is still brilliant, if not, even more so than prior. Photographed: mutton stew, jollof rice, chicken wings, puff puff. The growth of their menu is profound, it’s been carefully thought out to guarantee there’s something for everyone.
But the true highlight of Afrizi is its staff. Everyone is as welcoming and warm as I remember, it’s as though nothing is ever too much. It’s really is no surprise to hear of their accolades and achievements so far!
Food was very nice and very well priced.
Staff friendly too.
I found it on an off chance.
Food tasted much better than I would have expected.
Highly recommend, I have been back a second time this week already.
We do enjoy African food, and coming across this well-regarded cafe/ restaurant was a pleasant surprise.
Our two boys loved the food despite initially saying it was too early to eat, plus they also originally wanted something else nearby! However, we were glad to have given Afrizi a try.
We ordered Nigerian jollof rice/mutton stew and rice/ beans/chicken stew ‐ warms the soul on a chilly night, and this was definitely a treat today. Milk/fruit shakes are nicely done. 👌
The one thing is that we felt that the plantain for the fried plantain and plantain chips could have been riper, which would have made it slightly sweeter than it was. Other than that, the overall meal went down very quickly and without any complaints.
This is a lovely small African restaurant right outside festival place. Loved the vibe of the interior decor.
The service very good with friendly, thoughtful staff.
The menu was quite limited though and the food was only fair.
We had beans and plantains, this was just ok; we had the grilled fish, the presentation was nice but sadly the fish wasn't very flavourful; we also had the fried rice with sides of fried plantains and mutton stew. The mutton was tender and well spiced, loved it. The stew was very spicy, in a good way though, made me sweat :D ok, maybe a bit too spicy. I only wish it was served in a small bowl on the side rather than with the fried rice.
