Spitiko Greek Restaurant

Great food great service and even better company went for my birthday meal definitely would go back

We have visited Caversham a few times and always seen this restaurant but either weren't looking for a meal or already had one, so we thought this time we would give it a go. The restaurant is clean, bright and with a lovely photo mural of what looked like Crete. We were warmly greeted by the waitress. We chose for starters : Pastourma (£7.95) Grilled spicy beef sausage and Feta With Honey (£10.95) Creamy saly feta wraps in crispy filo pastry, topped with nutty sesame seeds and a drizzle of sweet honey. These were ordered as individual dishes for just ourselves but they gave us our starter plates and the dishes separately which was great as we could share it like a tapas. They were both absolutely beautiful and the Pastourma was particularly tasty. For our mains my partner had Chicken Spitiko (£17.50) Marinated chicken stuffed with spinach and feta, served with chips. I had Giouvetsi (£19.95) A traditional greek giouvetsi (youvetsi) made with orzo pasta, beef and a delicious tomato sauce. We both loved our own choices, the Chicken Spitiko was served like rolls of chicken, not the usual flat chicken breast and it was full of flavour. The Giouvetsi was delicious and the pasta was lovely, a bit like a rice version of pasta, which was easier to eat with the other ingredients. We also shared a mixed salad, pitta bread and a bottle of white wine. The service throughout by the waitress and waiter (possibly manager?) was attentive and not overpowering. We were offered a complimentary drink at the end of the meal, we chose Baileys, when my partner went to the loo the waiter gave us both a second Baileys! We will definitely be revisiting this wonderful restaurant when we come to Caversham again.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. Matt gave incredible service, walked us through all the best food, and made the whole meal very special for everyone. Highly recommend
