As a former Roman settlement, Maidenhead is no stranger to the joys of continental cuisine. El Cerdo sits at the heart of Maidenhead’s canal-side Waterside Quarter with outdoor seating available next to the water. There’s something magical about sitting outside with the gentle ripple of the canal that just seems to make our food taste even better!

The star of the show in Maidenhead is our impressive charcoal oven, handpicked by our Executive Chef to bring the unique smoky flavours of Spanish tapas to life. Built using the same bricks and techniques as charcoal ovens have been throughout Spanish history, our oven creates ‘ahumado’ (mouth-watering smokiness) for you to savour.

When you join us in Maidenhead, you can expect a hearty, Spanish welcome along with a truly unforgettable dining experience. Although you enter the restaurant as a guest, you will leave as part of the El Cerdo family… And with a warm glow in your belly that only great food can bring!

How does this place exist? The service is shocking only topped by the truly terrible food. Tasteless, tiny portions and expensive. 4 small prawns for £16. One small piece of Red Mullet for £22.50. Honestly the best dish was the bread. Just back from Barcelona and they would be outraged that this is what is being marketed as "tapas" The male manager is rude and the waitresses totally scattered and clueless. One was friendly enough, but three different servers served us. The other woman who brought out/took away dishes was so strange - when you say thank you she turns on her back and leaves without acknowledgement. So so strange. Wasted evening, in every regard.

Maybe an off night, but having visited many times before, tonight was well below par. The service was slow, we kept being served items we didn’t order, and what was ordered was really pretty average! We looked forward to it given previous experiences here, but after tonight I’m not sure we’ll rush back

What an absolute shame. The food that we managed to claw from the restaurant was lovely. The atmosphere was also enjoyable, listening to the live musician. However the service was shocking. The manager's excuse of 'the new menu' was simply not adequate. If you've been trialling a new menu for a week and still taking over an hour to bring out the dishes, it's not the menu. Definitely not the highlight of the birthday celebrations. I would not recommend

I would highly recommend this Spanish restaurant — it’s such a lovely find. Everything about it was excellent. The food was outstanding, full of flavour, and beautifully presented, not just tasty but really well thought out on the plate as well. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming throughout. Overall, we left feeling very satisfied and happy with the whole experience. It’s great to have a Spanish restaurant of this quality in Maidenhead — we’ll definitely be coming back.
