Discover fresh, flavoursome and feel good food straight from West Nigeria.
Afrizi, the first African restaurant in Basingstoke, where you will be transported by our rustic, colourful atmosphere; greeted by friendly faces and enjoy rhythmic, melodious African music. A true must-go spot in the heart of Hampshire.
Here at Afrizi, we like to look after everyone and our menu was designed to do just that! The majority of our menu is either gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian, further we boast that all of our menu is halal, catering to all whether you like spicy or just plain delicious!
But we didn’t just stop there, with our passion to look after our planet and home, this is our first thought through everything from up-cycling for our furniture and all packaging either being fully recyclable or compostable.
We look forward to inviting all of you, for grab-and-go lunches, mid afternoon catch-ups or sit-down dinners, and don’t forget to bring along your paw-tiful pets, we have a water bowl ready to go whenever!
Completely honest review by a fellow Nigerian than genuinely want this business to grow:
Lovely service but atrocious food.
Jollof Rice is the blandest thing I've ever had. Suya is at best 5/10. Beans has stones on it. Food is very overpriced for what it's for. I think for non Nigerians that haven't had authentic Nigerian food they may like it— but if you're black this is poorly made food. But I get it, not much competition around to improve overall taste. The £3 portion of 3 oil soggy plantain is daylight robbery. In the bright side the service is nice and the restaurant is warm and lovely. I think as Basingstoke grows the restaurant should probably improve their cooking skills too offer value for money.
Wish you the best
Delicious and authentic Nigerian cuisine. One of the best meals I've had in a very long time.
I had the Gizzmodo with Jollof rice, which was absolutely delicious. Combining, I believe, tripe with kidneys and plantains in a delicious slightly spicy sauce. The rice was perfect - 10/10. The sauce reminded me of a stew I had with Fufu not so long ago.
My partner had stir fried rice with mutton stew. The mutton was tender and the sauce had a serious kick.
We also had a Zobo Margarita (hibiscus, ginger, tequila and lime) as well as a Chapman Spritz (Chapman - a refreshing fizzy drink from Nigeria with orange, citrus and bitters - and Aperol).
The staff were friendly and kind, offering us a dessert on the house at the end of our meal.
The interior is restaurant meets take away, so potentially not immediately inviting to sit down for a meal, but I would recommend doing so anyway!
They'll be celebrating their 4th birthday soon, so I wish them all the best. And that more people will find this small little gem on the cusp of the centre.

a month agoIncredible food, drink and vibe. Relaxed and welcoming, the Nigerian Guinness is strong, cocktails tasty and would recommend the puff puff desserts
