The spring Inn

Went to the Spring Inn for a meal to celebrate my parents diamond wedding. There were 17 of us and lots of people hadn't seen each other for ages, chatting so Valentine had his work cut out with us !!! He was great. Very patient with us all when we couldn't member who ordered what, helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Smiling and super polite throughout the meal. Definitely a credit to the place. Full was superb as usual. Definitely going back and if you haven't visited I recommend you do. Fab staff and food !!!

I wanted to personally thank the entire team for making my 24th birthday on Thursday so special. I was absolutely blown away by the customer service and am incredibly grateful for how accommodating everyone was, especially when arranging for our group to move from outside to inside. It really made a difference and helped ensure the evening ran smoothly. So many people commented on how lovely the food was, and several have already said they will definitely be returning in the future. I will certainly be using the Spring Inn again for future events and bookings. As a small token of my appreciation, I'll pop by this weekend with some chocolates for the staff to say thank you for all their hard work. Thank you again for helping make my birthday such a memorable occasion.

I had a very disappointing experience here. While the venue itself was lovely and the staff were friendly and polite, there seemed to be a real lack of knowledge about the menu. I ordered a cottage pie and simply asked if I could swap the side of mash for chips. When the meal arrived, the cottage pie had no mashed potato topping at all – it had effectively been removed and replaced with chips. A cottage pie without the mash topping is not really a cottage pie. To make matters worse, I was then told I would have to pay extra to swap the side of mash for chips. The whole situation was confusing and frustrating. I had my 80-year-old mother with me, and we had travelled quite a distance to visit. There was no manager on site at the time, and all of the staff appeared very inexperienced, with nobody able to properly resolve the issue. When I complained the following Monday, the manager's solution was to offer me a free dessert or hot drink on a future visit. While the gesture was appreciated, it did not really address the poor experience we had, especially given the distance we travel and the inconvenience caused. Overall, the venue was pleasant, but the lack of menu knowledge, absence of management, and poor handling of the complaint left me very disappointed.

I have just had lunch with my family to celebrate my niece's 50th birthday. I was the only vegan in the group and came home with a headache and an empty stomach after only having the hummus and a side of chips for lunch. (I had the vegan curry last time and it wasn't very good).

We enjoyed our meal, however we asked the waiter for the bill (who was dressed in grey tracksuit bottoms), and his response was ‘no English’ ?? Which made it difficult to communicate what we were asking for and another (lovely) member of staff had to assist us.
