The Chequers

I was told by some locals that they had a disappointing experience but I had the complete opposite. I went on the fact I got to be with my family and thought I’d try it anyway. I had a really lovely meal. The food was delicious. I was looked after so well in what felt and warming Friday night. These guys aced it. I would strongly recommend you give it a go and see what you think. Because there were lots of us we shared lots of tasty starters and mains and I would definitely go back or take away.

Have just lost an hour of my life that I will never get back. Worst chinese that my husband and I have ever had. The food had no taste and was very watery. Crispy chilli beef was bland and served in poppadoms with no flavour and were clearly frozen ones, as they had freezer burns. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The 2 waiting staff were very friendly and chatty. One young man run off his feet behind the bar trying to clear plates and serve drinks. Who puts one person behind the bar on a Friday night? The bar seemed to be full of very young people drinking and swearing, not really what you want to hear when trying to sit down for food. We went when it was a Thai and it was completely different and really enjoyable. We will not be going back at all.

First time takeaway order this evening and what a delight. Easy to order, lovely welcome on arrival and food ready to go. Food was absolutely delicious. Having been disappointed trying other recommendations for local Chinese food I am delighted to have found a really good restaurant where the food truly is amazing. I will certainly order a takeaway again and look forward to eating in at the restaurant. Well done team Chequers I will most definitely be back.

Very first takeaway and will not be ordering again. The quality of the food was poor. The sauces were watery. The sweet and sour sauce was literally transparent. The egg fried rice seemed like it was left over from yesterday and didn't feel freshly cooked.. and I'm pretty sure I had a fried feather on my chicken skewer.

Staff very friendly, very polite and helpful. The restaurant was very busy and the takeaways were maniac, but all the staff were so nice even though they were rushed off their feet. Food is excellent, great flavour and not greasy. Would recommend them for both eat in and takeout.
