The Hare and Hounds

The Hare and Hounds in Sonning Common has had quite the glow-up since the new landlady and her sister took over. What was once a fairly ordinary local has been transformed into a proper community pub with plenty going on—and it’s quickly become one of my favourite places for a pint. The garden is absolutely beautiful and feels like the perfect spot to lose a sunny afternoon. Inside, there’s a pool table, and there’s often live music or a DJ keeping the atmosphere lively. It attracts a brilliant mix of people, from regular locals to visitors coming in from further afield, so there’s usually a good crowd and plenty of character. The new team have clearly put a lot of effort into turning the place around, and it shows. It feels welcoming, lively, and genuinely worth visiting rather than just being somewhere you happen to end up. I live over in Cav Park, but it’s well worth getting the bus up—and that’s saying something when you could stay local and avoid having to remember the last bus home! The Hare and Hounds has officially become my new favourite local. 🍺🐇🎶
