Historia Meze Grill

We visited Historia for the second time today and unfortunately had another very disappointing experience. Three different waitresses came to take our drinks order, and we had to explain twice that we had already ordered. The service felt very disorganised from the start. Our mains were brought out while the plates from our starters were still on the table, and we were told to keep our cutlery. Four mains arrived, and we waited for the final dish. When we raised this matter with the staff, we were told the lamb shank takes a long time to cook. Eventually a waitress came out loudly calling “lamb shank, lamb shank” across the restaurant. When I tried to get her attention, she handed it to another table who were still eating their starters. I had to tell her it was actually ours. She apologised and said they would have to make another one. By that point we had had enough and asked them not to bother as the rest of us nearly completed our mains. We requested to speak to the manager and were told he couldn’t come out as he was working in the kitchen and they were very busy. After asking five times he eventually came to speak with us. I explained that the service seems completely unorganised. We had experienced similar issues on a previous visit, but the previous manager encouraged us to give the restaurant another chance. Sadly, we now regret doing so. The food itself is excellent, but the service is very poor, with what appears to be untrained staff and poor management. They did offer a generous discount and said it wouldn’t happen again. I responded that they were right it won’t happen again, because we will not be returning!

Authentic and delicious food. The lamb ribs were perfection, as was the vegetarian kebab with sides of hummus and halloumi. The service was excellent; I was kindly offered a complimentary Turkish tea while I waited for my order (takeaway) and was given helpful advice about parking on arrival. Looking forward to returning with my family soon.

Gorgeous family restaurant in the heart of town. The staff were lovely, food was delicious and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommended!

Started from being seated, to our choice of menu being taken. The service was great the food was amazing. Great atmosphere. Such a lovely friendly restaurant as always. 100% recommend

The visit felt smooth and unhurried. Nothing stood out too strongly, but the overall impression stayed positive and relaxed.
