in the last weekWe held our Mums wake here and I am glad we did. The staff were friendly, efficient and made the whole process easy. The food was tasty, hot and plentiful. Thank you The retreat for making mums send off a lovely affair.

a week agoWe had called earlier to check if they have Gluten Free options and are pet friendly. They were pet friendly and didn't have a Gluten Free menu but had 3 #GF Items - Steak, Seabass and Bangers and Mash. The Google menus and pics show Gluten Free pizza options but it wasn't on the menu in the restaurant and only the 3 options stated were available. WARNING: DO NOT order based on the Gluten Free Icons on the menu. It showed the sticky toffee pudding as Gluten Free but it was not! Always ask the server to check with the kitchen before ordering. Since we had made a reservation we were seated immediately in a quiet annexe. Our server Grace was amazing. She got our Doggie a water bowl which was very sweet as he drank a lot all evening and she gave him some treats when he left. The service was excellent but the kitchen took ages to send the main course out and it wasn't very busy. The food itself was very average, I had the gambas which was nice but a little too smoky in flavour. The Bangers & Mash had a little too much thin gravy which everything was drowning in. The gravy is normally an onion gravy but this didn't have a single onion piece and tasted like a gravy pot or Bisto not freshly made which was ok but just not as tasty as other Bangers and Mash I've had. The sauce needed a little more sweetness and sour to balance the flavours. I couldn't taste the other dishes due to Gluten but the others said the Nachos and Croquettes were good while the Butter chicken wasn't great. The Creme Brulee was Gluten Free but was very thick and not the right texture with too much of a sugar crust. It should be a light dusting, I had to scrape off about a tablespoon. The Sticky tofee pudding was enjoyed by the others. Overall a nice evening.I would probably go for drinks and starters than a main course if I went back.

4 weeks agoHad a really lovely time here. The food was excellent and the service was absolutely spot on. A big shout-out to Georgia and Emma, who were both fantastic — friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely be back!
