The Gosling

Visited for two lunches, both times to celebrate. Really enjoyed everything. Looking forward to the next excuse to dine here. Minor niggle--drinks took ages, arriving at the same time as the starters. Maybe something to do with each fresh orange juice drink taking ages to prepare? It looked like a full-time job!

We had such a great meal. The atmosphere was great and the staff were fantastic, Igor was brilliant all evening, I was so impressed. We didn’t want for anything all night. I’ll be back soon for sure!

Been here twice now. Unfortunately, the second visit was disappointing. First of all, there was a shelf next to our table with ant running around. Second of all - food. The chicken was burnt, my monkfish came with so much sauce it was almost like a soup, with a deep-fried prawn floating in it — a rather strange addition. The seared tuna was overwhelmed with soy sauce, and the Parma ham didn’t seem like great quality. We had coffees at the end and both came cold. Very disappointing too. The prawns for starters were actually very nice (my friend enjoyed them), and the service was fine — attentive enough. The atmosphere is also lovely, which makes it even more of a shame that the food didn’t match the setting. Given the prices, I expected much better execution. Sadly, despite the nice ambience, the food just didn’t deliver for us this time, and I don’t think we’ll be returning. UPDATE: The restaurant got in touch after my review and handled my concerns in a very professional and courteous way. I appreciate that they took the feedback seriously and seem committed to giving guests a positive experience.

My daughter arranged a surprise birthday party for me here and we had a private dinning room which was just the perfect size for 14 of us. The food was amazing and everyone enjoyed it. The service provided was top class and the staff were so attentive. It felt very special and the atmosphere and service all made it that bit special. I had the fillet steak and it was melt in the mouth and no left overs! Everyone was saying how wonderful it all was and some said they were going go back there. In fact one of my friends who came has already booked for a party and hired the room and invited me! It's not cheap but neither is the food or service. I highly recommend it for that special occasion.

This was our first visit to the gosling and it certainly won’t be the last. Lobster crumpet and crispy lamb shoulder to start was beautiful. Chateaubriand to share for our main course, enormous portion which was masterfully cooked to perfection. Cocktails are phenomenal, highly recommend the lychee martini. A birthday treat was bought out which was very kind. Highly recommend the gosling in every way.
