El Cerdo

Good food, good vibe, good service from Memo.

Fantastic and a 9.5/10 all round. My partner and I have been eyeing up El Cerdo in Bourneend but realised there's one even closer to us in Maidenhead. We were greeted on arrival very warmly by the staff and taken to our seats immediately. At first we were by the bar which wasn't my favourite spot, (total personal preference by the way), hoeever the staff were very quick to find us a table on the floor which was very kind of them. Other couples seemed very comfortable by the bar but I am quite pregnant so the stools weren't great for my back or posture. (The restaurant weren't aware so totally my problem). My partner and I started with the beef carpaccio. Very very flavoursome and very spanish. Loved the cheese on top of the slices of beef. What a nice twist to the usual carpaccio's we have had before. We then had the lamb skewer which came with potatoes and a very delicious green sauce. This was one of my favourite dishes. Seared so perfectly and the lamb was also perfectly cooked. Next we has the seafood tortilla. Really nice portion size. Not to big or small and I personally really liked having the seafood NOT inside the tortilla but on top. Nice touch. This paired so well with the pork dish which can with charred lettuce and a red pepper sauce. As the pork dish was intense with flavour it needed something to balance it out which the tortilla did well. My partners top dish too - the pork. We then had the half portion of lobster paella which we both adored but we do think if you are more of a lobster fan than that, you'd be so happy. It was cleverly made and the chef's left the lobster to be the star as it sat pleasantly on top of the paella rice alone. Really didn't need anything else. Welldone! The rice, done just as perfect as the rest. And of course the dessert. Okay, so the burnt basque cheesecake was overdone in our opinion but we couldn't fault the flavours combined with the sorbet. If it had been just a little less cooked, it would have really made the meal outstanding. So 0.5 off out of 10 for this but all round a top 5 star for Google. We will definitely be back again! :)

Great find in a lovely location. The atmosphere was very Spanish with live music and the food super delicious. Will definitely be back and recommending to everyone.
